History
The Center for Design and Sustainability at the Federal University of Paraná was founded in 2003 with funds obtained through a project approved in the announcement Verde-Amarelo/TIB FINEP 01/2002.
The Center for Design and Sustainability at the Federal University of Paraná was founded in 2003 with funds obtained through a project approved in the announcement Verde-Amarelo/TIB FINEP 01/2002.
Also in 2003 incorporated the main concepts of sustainability and environmental dimensions, social and economical and with a focus on the life cycle of products, brought by Prof.. Dr. Carlo Vezzoli at the Polytechnic of Milan.
The NDS / UFPR has the support of researchers from various departments of UFPR and other universities (national and international) and creates opportunities for research in sustainable design in a highly collaborative environment.
In 2006, the NDS / UFPR has become one of the laboratories in support of the Graduate Program in Design, UFPR.
Mission
Develop and disseminate knowledge on sustainable design. The objective is to make the NDS a center of international reference on the subject until 2010.
Activities
a) Research Projects: always done in partnership with representatives of society (corporations, foundations, universities, etc.) in order to obtain valid results and scientific practice;
b) Extension Activities for society: the dissemination of knowledge through extension courses, scientific meetings and publications;
c) support to academic learning: creation of didactic and pedagogical tools to support teaching in undergraduate and graduate studies in Design.
